West Ham United are apparently among the frontrunners to sign one long-term Magpies target.

Hugo Ekitike, a PSG renegade, is said to be a target for West Ham in January. Despite only joining the club on a permanent basis in the summer, Ekitike has only played once for the Ligue 1 winners this season and was not picked to their winners League squad.

In January, the Frenchman was heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes, and Newcastle United were briefly mooted as potential suitors. However, it now appears that he may end up in the London Stadium, with West Ham apparently interested in signing Ekitike when the January transfer window opens.

Ekitike turned off a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer in order to force a move to the Premier League, with the Hammers also said to be interested in him in the closing days of the window. When the winter transfer window opens, Ekitike could be available for loan or permanent transfer.

Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande is ready to sign a new contract, according to reports in Portugal. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United have all been linked with a January transfer for the defender.

Diomande’s current contract has a release clause, which might be increased in a new contract. His club is trying to clinch a contract with Diomande before he leaves for the African Cup of Nations in January.
