It seems that West Ham is already screening possible successors to David Moyes as manager, even though there are still six months remaining in the 2023–2024 season.

The Scot’s deal with the East Londoners expires at the end of the current campaign, and it doesn’t appear that the club has contacted Moyes to talk about a renewal thus far.

In fact, it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see a fresh face in the driver’s seat come season two.

In light of this, Hammers News is claiming that Tim Steidten, the technical director, is searching for a new kind of manager and is considering Xabi Alonso, a former employee of Bayer Leverkusen.

According to the site, he would need to pay about £13 million to buy out of the two-year contract he recently signed at Leverkusen. It is unclear at this time if the east Londoners would be willing to make that kind of payment.

Furthermore, considering that Alonso’s former teams, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Liverpool, may all have distinct motives for wanting him back, it is far from certain that he would even consider a move to the Hammers.

Respectfully, there’s no denying that the emotional attraction to any of the three would be stronger than switching to the Hammers, but West Ham would offer a more formidable opponent, which may appeal.
