Among the teams interested in Championship leaders Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho are West Ham United and Crystal Palace

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in reacquiring Kelechi Iheanacho in the Premier League during the January transfer window. The London clubs are both in search of new forward options, and Iheanacho, who has had an impressive start to the season with Leicester City in the Championship, is high on their wish lists.

Premier League clubs are likely to prioritize players with significant Premier League experience, making Leicester City, who have begun the season impressively, an appealing source for potential additions. The Foxes currently top the Championship table, having won 13 of their 15 games.

Among their standout players is Kelechi Iheanacho, who boasts extensive Premier League experience from his time with Manchester City and Leicester City. The 27-year-old striker has already found the net six times in 17 appearances this season in the Championship, in addition to providing two assists, mirroring his top-division performance.

Both West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in securing the Nigerian striker’s services in the January window, especially since his contract is set to expire in the summer. While Leicester City may want to retain Iheanacho to enhance their chances of returning to the Premier League, pressure from Premier League sides might force them to consider a cut-price offer for the 27-year-old Championship striker.

West Ham is currently seeking a new striker, having failed to replace Gianluca Scamacca during the summer transfer window. Much of the attacking burden now falls on Michail Antonio, making the addition of a forward a priority.

Similarly, Crystal Palace, despite a substantial summer transfer window search, has not been able to secure a new striker. They are keen on acquiring Hugo Ekitike, alongside West Ham, to bolster their attacking options under manager Roy Hodgson.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s vast Premier League knowledge would make him a valuable addition to both clubs, and Leicester City would ideally prefer to retain him to aid in their promotion efforts. If Iheanacho contributes to their return to the top flight, Leicester could even consider extending his contract.
