According to John McGinn, Villa’s players understand they must continue to perform at their peak or risk being sacked by Unai Emery

The Scottish player continues to be an essential component of Villa’s team as they rapidly evolve into top-four contenders under Emery’s leadership. However, he acknowledges that the manager will be unforgiving as he pursues his goal of guiding Villa into the Champions League.

McGinn remarked, “His aspirations align with ours. He may exhibit patience in his approach and tactics, but, like us, he’s driven to win and win now. His ambition is evident through the high-profile signings he’s securing.”

“It’s on us, the players,” McGinn continued. “You either align with his vision, hop on the train, and elevate your performance to meet his standards, or you risk being replaced – a scenario we’ve already witnessed.”

“Hopefully, I can continue to progress and remain part of that collective.”

Villa’s upcoming fixture against West Ham, the first of three home matches in their next four Premier League games, awaits them a week from Sunday. Emery’s squad aims to secure their 11th consecutive league victory at Villa Park.
