Barry Ferguson thinks Liam Scales will continue to develop better among all the Celtic players who have performed well under Brendan Rodgers this year.

The Irishman, 25, has been in outstanding form for the Hoops and is currently serving with the Republic of Ireland on an international level.

Ferguson believes that the Celtic defender will keep getting better now that Cameron Carter-Vickers is back in the lineup, even though Scales will be aiming to get his first cap.

“He brings balance,” Ferguson said [The Go Radio Football Show]. The way football operates is absurd. It’s absurd. He was really nowhere to be found at Celtic, after all.

“And clearly, injuries and suspensions give players opportunities in football, and let’s be honest, this player has seized that opportunity with both hands.

“And I believe he is improving with each game. And given who is in the room with him, I believe he will start to get better. Carter-Vickers has returned after his injury.

He might step up his performance even further.

Brendan Rodgers has been impressed with the £500k signing from Shamrock Rovers so far this year. Scales has been hailed as “outstanding” by Celtic’s manager and has astonished him more than any other player in his managerial experience.
