Former Tottenham goalie Brad Friedel offers his opinion on how his old team may develop and win the Premier League title at the end of the season as part of the Tottenham transfer news.
And if that’s the case, that would be a truly staggering state of affairs – even if, on this occasion, the fans probably had a point. Lampard might have been a quality football player and his status as one of the Premier League’s greats would most certainly make him a marketing man’s dream, which is perhaps what initially attracted Bisgrove. However, very little he has done since moving from the field to the dugout suggests he would be remotely capable.
As a result of its star Harry Kane’s shocking departure late in the summer, the club was understandably written off by many ahead of the season. They have, however, been a pleasant surprise that has swept the top flight off its feet, in large part because of Heung-min Son.
The South Korean, who has been praised for his years-long collaboration with Kane, is now working solely as a striker for Spurs under Postecoglou’s method. Even though Richarlison has scored a few goals of his own, the team lacks depth at this position because summer acquisition Brennan Johnson is presently sidelined with an injury.

Friedel, a former goalkeeper, now says that’s one of the only areas they can genuinely improve before they have a realistic chance of competing with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal, their rivals in North London, and winning the title.
They still need a few goals from someone else up front, according to Friedel. They already have it in the squad if they can convince Richarlison to start doing that. The FA Cup begins around Christmas, and with so many difficult games to recover from, you may not always be at your best. In those situations, all you need is a goalscorer.
“When you look back at the great teams of the past, they all had a player like that to drag them through those tough matches. Son is scoring, which is great for them, but I think they need someone else up front.
“Then, if you’re thinking about squad depth and rotation, possibly another centre-back. Van de Ven and Romero are performing really well, but if an injury happens, you’re going to need someone who is almost as good.”
