Romelu Lukaku, the new face of Roma, has emphasized the significance of his cordial friendship with Jose Mourinho for his improbable start to life at the Stadio Olimpico. Giallorossi thrashed promoted Cagliari 4-1 on Sunday thanks to the 30-year-old’s brace, giving them three straight victories and saving the Special One’s skin.

Since joining Roma on loan from Chelsea in the final days of the summer transfer window, Lukaku has been in incredible form. The Belgian international has reached the back of the net in six of his seven games for Giallorossi in all competitions since making his debut in Serie A in a 7-0 rout of Empoli.

Lukaku looks determined to retake Serie A by storm, despite the fact that his move to Roma, which came after a lengthy summer-long story around his failed return to Inter, barely made headlines. Working with Mourinho, who originally arranged for his transfer to Manchester United, also benefits him.

I prove on the pitch what I can give to a team. Today things went well,” the Roma striker said.

In addition, Lukaku gave his assessment of his ongoing friendship with Mourinho.

As I’ve said in the past, he and I have a special relationship. He knows m and my children,” the Roma ace. “He’s someone I can trust, and he puts his trust in me. He’s tough, but that’s the only way that I can grow.”
