Newcastle United had to settle for a draw with West Ham, the team that was ranked above them in the Premier League.

On Sunday afternoon, Newcastle and West Ham played an odd match. After winning 4-1 despite having barely touched the ball against PSG, Newcastle had a similar performance against West Ham, controlling possession but struggling to score goals.

Newcastle struggled to break down West Ham’s defense.

At the London Stadium, West Ham unexpectedly seized the lead early on as Newcastle never really seemed to pose a danger going forward despite dominating possession.

Even though it was far from a stellar performance, Newcastle has proven adept at improving after the break this year, and that is exactly what they accomplished. In the second half, Alexander Isak scored twice to give Newcastle the advantage.

Before substitute Mohammed Kudus scored a long-range goal to level the game, the Magpies appeared to be winning. Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder for Newcastle who cost £40 million, told NUFC TV after the game that his team needed to get better in the second half. I believe we didn’t deserve to receive the three points for our first half. It was insufficient.

Newcastle has a well-deserved two-week break to rest and recharge

“I think in our second half we played very well. Disappointed to take the goal at the end of the game but we move on. We will now enjoy the international break and come back again strong.”

This fair evaluation comes from the Brazilian player who recently renewed his contract with Newcastle just yesterday. With Newcastle being undefeated in their last seven matches since the previous international break, one can hope that this one will also bring positive results.
