Jacob Bruun Larsen produced a Manuel Benson-esque finish to deliver Burnley’s first league win of the season during a 2-1 victory against Luton Town last night.

The winger came off the bench to fire the Clarets back into the lead after they had been pegged back just 65 seconds previously.

Lyle Foster also capped off his return to the side with a goal as Vincent Kompany’s men held on for what felt like a hugely significant victory.

Here’s how the players performed…

1. James Trafford – 7/10

On the receiving end of a barrage of crosses into his box but stood up to it well. Kicked long a bit more often than usual.

2. Connor Roberts – 7/10

A solid display and defended resolutely, but gave the ball away a little too often. Showed his emotion for Bruun Larsen’s winner.

3. Jordan Beyer – 8/10

Had his hands full with Carlton Morris but really stood up to the challenge. Came inches away from connecting with a cross at the other end.

4. Ameen Al-Dakhil – 7/10

Composed and stood up to the pressure well, but allowed Adebayo to turn him in the box for Luton’s leveller.

5. Charlie Taylor – 8/10

An all-action display, Looked to get forward and offered an option on the overlap, but defended resolutely too.

6. Josh Cullen – 8/10

Stood up to the constant closing down. Involved in the build up for Foster’s goal and produced a miraculous headed clearance off the line.

7. Josh Brownhill – 8/10

Set pieces were much improved and came close with a couple of efforts. Got into some dangerous areas on a consistent basis.

8. MAN OF THE MATCH: Sander Berge – 8/10

Broke forward from midfield on a number of occasions and his physicality was a big asset. Slipped the ball through for Foster’s goal.

9. Zeki Amdouni – 7/10

Involved in some really clever play, just needs to be more clinical in front of goal. Came close with a header before fluffing his lines in front of goal.

10. Luca Koleosho – 7/10

Came alive at the start of the second-half after a relatively quiet first. Showed ability with both feet and tested the keeper at his near post.

11. Lyle Foster – 8/10

Back in the side, back on the scoresheet. Led the line superbly, bringing others into play and took his goal in composed fashion.

12. SUB: Aaron Ramsey – 6/10

For Amdouni, 74 Broke forward well on a couple of occasions down the left flank before being replaced himself as part of a late tactical switch-up.

13. SUB: Jacob Bruun Larsen – 8/10

For Koleosho, 74 Won the game for Burney with his sublime long-range strike into the top corner, his first league goal for the club.

14. SUB: Jay Rodriguez – 7/10

For Foster, 80 Looked to hold the ball up and take the sting out of the game. Almost added a third late on with a low, driven effort.

15. SUB: Hannes Delcroix – 6/10

For Ramsey, 90 A tactical switch in stoppage-time to help deal with the inevitable onslaught of long balls into the Burnley box.
