Chris Sutton didn’t waste an opportunity to fire a parting dig at sacked Rangers manager Michael Beale after the pundit was dubbed the ‘worst player to ever play for Chelsea’

Celtic hero Chris Sutton has offered a parting dig at sacked Rangers manager Michael Beale following their long-running war of words.

Former QPR boss Beale has been sacked by Rangers as they sit seven points behind their Old Firm rivals just seven games into the new season. There had been no love lost between the pair since earlier in his Ibrox tenure with ‘comedy acts’ becoming the theme.

Following the news that the 43-year-old had been replaced by midfielder Steven Davis in an interim role, Sutton wrote on X: “There are some managers that are comedy acts…”

One annoyed follower said in response: “Beale who never played professional football has more managerial experience and at a higher level than yourself. Let’s not talk about comical managers.” A second added: “You’ve had that in your drafts for a bit.” A third continued: “Extremely rare post here….. You were correct.”

Back in February, Beale lashed out at Sutton after he received praised from many for allowing Partick Thistle to score into an open goal at Ibrox. Sutton questioned whether he would’ve done the same against Celtic, with Beale then hitting back without naming him.
