Latest Leicester City news as Jamie Vardy sends a warning to the Foxes’ Championship rivals after victory over Blackburn Rovers

The remainder of the Championship has been forewarned by Jamie Vardy that Leicester City are “going to keep getting better and better” as the season goes on.

Vardy scored once as Leicester defeated Blackburn 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to win all three points at Ewood Park and increase their advantage at the top of the league standings.

Vardy discussed how Leicester has been performing under Maresca in an interview with Sky Sports following the game. Additionally, he sent a warning to the remainder of the Championship as City keep becoming better.

When asked what makes the current Leicester team special, Vardy said: “I think the main thing is, the gaffer has come in he’s got his own way of playing and he’s got a plan and I think, we’re trying it. Everyone has taken it on board, everyone wants to learn, everyone wants to improve.

“As Wilf (Wilfred Ndidi) said, he’s normally playing as a central defensive midfielder, he’s playing as an attacking eight now. It’s learning those new roles, learning how the manager wants to play, and like Wilf said it is a process and as the season goes on we’re just going to keep getting better and better when we get used to it.”

On the timing of his goal, Vardy added: “I think it was massive, we’ve let ourselves down for their goal, but that’s the way the manager wants us to play, it’s risk and reward and sometimes we get done by a little sucker-punch. I think from that moment on we’ve gone on, we’ve gone 2-1 in front, weathered the storm a bit at the start of the second half.

“As you can see with the way we play, it keeps them running quite a lot, probably tires them out towards the end and we nicked two more goals.”
