According to Football Insider reporter Pete O’Rourke, Stoke City attacker Sead Haksabanovic wants to permanently leave his parent club Celtic in the next two transfer windows.

The 24-year-old player moved to leave Celtic Park on deadline day after receiving “mixed messages” from club executives at the Scottish Premiership team. He then signed with the Championship team.

His start to the season

Since joining Stoke City on loan, Haksabanovic has made five appearances, and he managed to net his first goal for the team during Saturday’s Championship match against Bristol City, which Stoke rallied from behind to win 3-2.

Before being loaned out, he made two appearances for Celtic as well. The winger, who hasn’t received a cap since June, was not included in Montenegro’s squad for the international break in September.

His contract status

The winger is currently under contract at Celtic Park until 2027 after arriving from Rubin Kazan last summer. However, he has struggled for game time for the Scottish champions.

Despite the return of Brendan Rodgers in the summer and the departure of Portuguese winger Jota, his game time has continued to decrease, causing plenty of frustration for the winger.

Could a permanent deal occur?

The Montenegro international has enjoyed a positive start to life at Stoke City, starting the club’s last three Championship matches and contributing to two goals in the process.

Whether Stoke City would be interested in completing a permanent deal does remain to be seen. He’s with the club until the end of the season regardless and cost Celtic €2.5 million which is affordable for Alex Neil’s side.

Writer’s View

With the winger pushing for a permanent exit, it does increase the likelihood that his loan deal could be cut short in January unless Stoke City can persuade otherwise.

The 24-year-old is a talented young player but it appears as though he isn’t in the plans under Brendan Rodgers which is likely to add further fuel to his exit.
