Xavi’s and his team’s increased wages in Barcelona. This comes after his recent contract renewal on Friday 21 September

Barcelona confirmed last night that manager Xavi Hernandez’s contract has been extended for another year until 2025. The 43-year-old’s previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2024, but after conversations over the summer, both parties agreed on a 12-month extension until 2025, with an option for another year.

With the contract extension being public, Marta Ramon of RAC1 has revealed further information about Xavi Hernandez’s new contract with Barcelona.

Xavi’s new deal includes a significant wage increase, as his compensation has been doubled from what he previously earned.

Indeed, given the club’s financial position, the manager accepted a salary of only €4 million per season when he arrived.

He will now make roughly €8 million per season, while the wages of his employees have been increases significantly  from €1.5 million to €4 million per year. Despite the raise, Xavi’s wage remains below those of managers at Europe’s top clubs.

In reality, his salaries is lower than that of his predecessor at Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, who used to earn €9 million per year. As previously stated, the new deal includes a one-year extension option for Xavi’s term.

If Barça wins La Liga or the UEFA Champions League in the coming seasons and neither the club nor the manager withdraws from the agreement, the condition will be automatically triggered.

The new contract is effective immediately, which is equivalent to Xavi signing a two-year contract with an option for another.
