Jacob Ramsey returned to group training this week after recuperating from a foot injury, according to Aston Villa.
After suffering a broken metatarsal injury while on international duty with England U21s over the summer, the 22-year-old has yet to play this season, and his presence in the side has been felt.Jacob Ramsey says current England Under-21s squad have 'different mentality' | The Independent

Ramsey scored six goals and supplied eight assists in 38 appearances last season, many of which came after the appointment of Unai Emery, and the Villa manager will likely welcome having him back for the remainder of the season.

According to the club’s tweet below, the Villa midfielder is now back in group training and out on the grass at Bodymoor Heath following his rehabilitation, but it’s unclear when he’ll be regarded well enough to play.

Naturally, after such a long absence, he’ll need to be progressively incorporated back into the team to regain match fitness and sharpness, to prevent rushing him back and risking reinjury.

In turn, time will tell whether he can make the bench this week against Legia Warsaw in the Europa Conference League or at Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, but with such a busy fixture schedule ahead, having him back in full training will be a major boost in itself as he nears a comeback.

The Villa duo were so influential for us last season down the left flank, and with Alex Moreno also returning to training over the international break, it’s a major double boost for Emery, who will now have two key figures back available and ready to make their mark as we try to build on our positive start to the season.

Given his contributions in both phases of the game, but particularly his offensive danger in the final third, it is hoped that Ramsey will now have a huge influence moving forward and give a critical dimension to our play that we have missed in his absence.
