Wrexham will test a first-team pair ahead of their match against Grimsby Town due to injury concerns.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has stated that his team will evaluate Jacob Mendy and Anthony Forde ahead of the weekend.

The pair were forced to miss the Welsh club’s most recent match against Doncaster Rovers.

According to The Leader, Parkinson delivered the following injury update on the duo: “Can we get them both close to being available for selection for the weekend?” Jacob was not on international duty at the time, although he suffered a minor hamstring strain in training following the Newcastle under 21s game last Tuesday. Anthony damaged his Achilles at the conclusion of the game and was also out, so we’re just keeping an eye on him.”

Wrexham are looking for an injury boost.
Wrexham would benefit from the return of Mendy and Forde, giving Parkinson more options as his club looks to maintain their momentum. They have won their past two league games in a row, against Tranmere Rovers and Doncaster, and are unbeaten in their last six league games.

Mendy, 26, joined the team last year from Boreham Wood and was instrumental in the club’s promotion from the National League last season. He has since adjusted well to the Football League and gives useful competition in his position as left wing-back.

Forde, on the other hand, has a wealth of experience and has played over 350 games in his career, having previously played for Wolves, Walsall, Rotherham United, and Oxford United. He moved into non-league to join Parkinson’s side, and that choice paid off as they won the fifth tier title in late April.

Wrexham defender Aaron Hayden is out with a thigh injury and will miss the rest of the season. James McClean has trained, but it is unknown whether he will be totally fit.
