As the summer transfer window opens, Leicester City is eyeing a Newcastle United midfielder. Here are the latest transfer rumors.

There are rumors that Leicester City is planning a £15 million raid for Sean Longstaff of Newcastle United.

The Foxes’ top goal in their search for a manager is to find a replacement for Enzo Maresca. But as they get ready to return to the Premier League, they also have an eye on the beginning of the summer transfer market, which takes place on Friday.

The Mirror claims that City has been monitoring midfielder Longstaff for a number of months. They claim to be prepared to convert that interest into a more tangible endeavor at this point.

It is said that a bid of £15 million is being “prepared” for the 26-year-old. Despite manager Eddie Howe’s respect for the player, he still has a year left on his St. James’ Park contract, and a deal “holds appeal” for the Magpies.

Additionally, it’s possible that Kelechi Iheanacho is heading in the other direction as City watches the Newcastle player. The Mirror further states that the 27-year-old’s release was confirmed by the Foxes on Friday by publishing their retained list, indicating that the Magpies “may be interested” in him.

Maresca stated before he left that City will have a “low-key” summer of operations, which means that wise transactions are needed both inside and outside the team and that going on a spending binge is not an option. The midfield appears to be the area that needs the most work when it comes to team improvement.

With Dennis Praet departing, Yunus Akgun not coming back from his loan spell, and Wilfred Ndidi’s future uncertain, City are left with just one advanced midfield player, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s future may not be certain either. City will require a few forward-thinking midfield players, even if the next manager does not set up the team in the same manner. Ndidi might even decide to stay as City is performing at a higher level and he might go back to playing defense.

City must be careful with their Profitability & Sustainability Rule calculations, much like other Premier League teams.
