Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton is one of the names connected to a significant move to Old Trafford. Manchester United is in the market for one or more new center backs.

Everton anticipates more offers for their teenage center back once he emerges as one of the finest in the Premier League this season.

United probably being among them.

A report from Sky Sports News claims that Everton values Branthwaite at £60 and £70 million before this summer’s transfer season opens.

United are in dire need of improved centre-backs and Raphael Varane has already announced his departure with his contract set to expire.

Branthwaite has been excellent for Everton this season, playing a starring role in their successful battle against relegation.

It remains to be seen whether Man City or Real Madrid will make a move for Branthwaite this summer as both clubs have been linked with a move in recent months.

Cut price deal reportedly elsewhere

This morning, a headline stated that United was considering a low-ball £40 million bid for Branthwaite. According to The Daily Mail, Sir Jim Ratcliffe was “prepared to profit from the Toffees’ financial difficulties.”

Even for a fire sale acquisition of a player of Branthwaite’s caliber and age, that sounds incredibly low.

I don’t know where The Mail obtained their £40 million estimate, but that is a lot less than the £60–£70 million that Sky Sports said.
