Pablo Hernandez and Ebanie Bridges sent a message to Leeds United defender Liam Cooper on Instagram on his recent post.

The Scottish centre-back admitted that he was proud of the Whites and promised that they would come again after failing to secure promotion at Wembley.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay said on The Square Ball on 5 April that the defender has no expectations of getting a new contract and that the 32-year-old is likely to leave the club.

Bridges replied on Instagram saying: “We gonna miss you” while Hernandez shared blue and yellow hearts.

Leeds United are right to part ways with Liam Cooper

It is time for Leeds to part ways with Cooper and adopt a more ruthless approach to squad building if they are to return to the Premier League next season.

Cooper, a long-standing member of the squad and club captain, has been a loyal servant to the Whites.

However, his departure signals a shift in the club’s strategy towards a younger, more dynamic team.

Leeds have shown a clear intent to build a squad for the long term, focusing on young, promising players who can contribute to the club’s success in the future.

This strategy was evident in their recent signings and departures, with a focus on acquiring young talent and moving on from experienced players.

Cooper’s potential departure, along with the exit of other long-term players like Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling, marks the end of an era at Leeds.

It’s a clear sign that the club is looking to the future and is willing to make tough decisions to achieve their goals.
