Wrexham have clinched a second straight promotion after beating Forest Green Rovers 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday’s hammering of Crawley Town put Wrexham on the brink and Phil Parkinson’s men got the job done – with some help from Mansfield Town.

Elliot Lee and Paul Mullin had Wrexham 2-0 up before a Ryan Inniss own goal effectively killed the game off as a contest.

Mullin added number four before Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott secured the 6-0 win and booked Wrexham’s place in League One for next season.

Mansfield’s 4-1 thrashing of MK Dons secured promotion for Wrexham, sparking a pitch invasion at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham do still have two league games left to play but the celebrations have started – and that goes for the players too.Wrexham v Boreham Wood - Vanarama National League

Wrexham were dominant against bottom side Forest Green and raced into a 4-0 lead before the half-time whistle even sounded.

Elliot Lee on message to Wrexham owners

Wrexham star Elliot Lee got the ball rolling with the opener and had a message for the club’s famed owners.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds couldn’t attend Saturday’s victory and, sadly, weren’t part of the promotion celebrations.

The pair have certainly changed the entire trajectory of the club and certainly deserve praise for how they have conducted themselves as owners and as people.

Lee told BBC Sport straight after Saturday’s win that he didn’t know whether McElhenney and Reynolds had been in touch, but Reynolds usually says something after a game.

Lee then added that the Wrexham players have a message going the other way – get sorting another promotion party in Las Vegas!

“I don’t know if they’ve messaged anyone but we usually get a message from Ryan after a game so I’m sure he’ll message soon enough,” said Lee. “I think we’ve just told them to fire up the jet to Vegas!” he added.

How much did Wrexham’s last Vegas trip cost?

Wrexham headed to Vegas last year and had quite the party over there with McElhenney and Reynolds funding the trip.

Former Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster shared all and suggested that the whole venture must have set them back around £500,000 – at least.

Foster noted that McElhenney and Reynolds ‘looked after everything’ with no expense spared.

Wrexham players are seemingly looking for McElhenney and Reynolds to do the same again and sort out another party – possibly an even bigger one than last year.

We can’t imagine that they would say no after back-to-back promotions, so maybe we should get ready to see Wrexham stars around pools in Vegas again this summer.
