Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has challenged his team to get better in both areas following their 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Eberechi Eze believed he had given Palace the lead just before halftime when he slipped a low effort past Neto from inside the area, but Jean-Philippe Mateta was flagged offside by VAR during the build-up, thus the goal was disallowed.

In the 79th minute, Justin Kluvit scored a goal past Dean Henderson after Antoine Semenyo beat David Ozoh and crossed the ball. This gave Bournemouth the all-important three points.

The Eagles, who play Manchester City on Saturday, have lost their last four Premier League games.

“You can’t win if you don’t score a goal,” stated Glasner.

“We had enough situations where we could have had a finish or a good finish.

“But in the end, we had three shots. We have to blame ourselves for being more direct, to be more decisive in front of the opposition’s goal.

We dominated the game, particularly in the second half, so it’s frustrating.

“The opening shot of the second half was their goal. The games were decided in the boxes, but the players performed well in between the boxes.

But we need to get better in both areas. It is our duty and responsibility to make the difficult decisions go in our favor even though they were not all in our favor today.

“I have observed how the players work and allocate their resources. Bournemouth is a prolific goal scorer and is always threatening at home.

“After the goal, we didn’t give them many opportunities.”
