Everton supporters were seen traveling to Scotland to show their backing for club icon Duncan Ferguson as Inverness Caledonian Thistle played to a 1-1 draw with Dundee United on Saturday (23 March).

Ferguson’s Caley Thistle team is currently fighting to avoid relegation in the Scottish Championship, currently sitting in the relegation playoff spot beneath Ayr United.

During the international break, Everton has no Premier League fixture scheduled until Saturday 30 March, prompting some fans to lend their support to their former manager and player.

Despite initially taking the lead 12 minutes into the game, United managed to equalize in the second half, leaving Caley Thistle three points away from safety.

An image shared by Football Away Days on Saturday (23 March) depicted Everton supporters proudly displaying their allegiance with a flag during the match.

This gesture was particularly significant as Ferguson is currently in his second managerial stint since departing his coaching role at Everton in January 2022.

With only four points separating Everton from the relegation zone, both the club and its supporters are facing a similar situation and remain hopeful of avoiding relegation.

Given that Everton narrowly escaped relegation last season under Sean Dyche’s management and achieved a similar feat under Frank Lampard in the preceding campaign, there is optimism that survival can be secured once again.

Despite being three points ahead of Luton Town and four points ahead of Nottingham Forest, Everton cannot afford to become complacent. Key matches against Bournemouth, Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and Luton will be crucial in determining their fate for the remainder of the season.

With a solid defensive lineup featuring players like Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski, Everton still boasts one of the best defensive records in the league, ranking joint-fourth overall.
