The past week has seen Newcastle United linked to summer deals for Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White, two Nottingham Forest players who are expected to depart given their recent financial rule violations.
In January, Gibbs-White was a goal, but FFP constraints prevented us from making significant purchases earlier in the year. Meanwhile, Toon scouts are reportedly keeping an eye on a number of center backs, including Murillo.
Despite a recent four-point deduction, Nottingham Forest is reportedly prepared to take a strict stance on player sales this summer. The Telegraph believes that in order to prevent another breach, the club needs to make £30 million in profit by the end of June.
Chief Midlands reporter John Percy claims the Reds will demand at least £50m for both Gibbs-White and Murillo, insisting they are ‘under no pressure to accept lowball offers’ for their star players.
They believe Murillo – a 21-year-old Brazilian centre-back – could be worth in excess of £70m in years to come following his impressive first season in the Premier League, while Gibbs-White cost them £30m after installments in the summer of 2022.
So, neither will come cheap, it seems, despite suggestions they’ll be forced to seek quick sales in fear of another PSR breach.
