
Supporters Trust at Reading [STAR] have restarted fundraising for this month’s ‘stark and immediate’ shortfall.
Efforts had been paused temporarily as news broke of Wycombe Wanderers’ deal to purchase Bearwood training facility, with the Chairboys reportedly to help pay outgoings while a deal with in the works.
However, Wycombe announced yesterday that they have paused their talks to buy Bearwood and are withholding this funding which would have paid payroll and HMRC.

A agreement to replace Dai Yongge is in the works, but it’s unclear if any contracts will be finalized in time to help with the outgoings that are scheduled for the next few days.
“Cashflow concerns for March remain stark and immediate,” stated STAR. “We are extending our need for fan support through the end of March once more. As agreed upon with Reading Football Club, money will be transferred to the commercial account rather than general finances to allay concerns about use.”
Through the selling of tickets for their 4-0 victory over Cambridge United on Saturday, Elm Park Royals raised thousands of pounds.
Supporters can sponsor a member of the first team for the balance of the season for £1,000.
If any payments are missed between now and the end of the season, the Royals will be hit with another two-point deduction with just seven matches remaining.
