Leeds United will reportedly seek around £25 million for Willy Gnonto if they fail to secure promotion this season, as per Carlton Palmer. Speaking to Football League World, Palmer indicated that Leeds would prefer to retain the Italian international if they return to the Premier League. However, Daniel Farke, the manager, is unlikely to tolerate any disruptive behavior from the 20-year-old, as seen earlier in the campaign.

Palmer suggested that Gnonto would likely opt to stay at Leeds if they achieve promotion this season. He noted that the winger has regained the support of the fans and appears to be enjoying his football again at Elland Road.

“Gnonto is under contract with Leeds United until the summer of 2027,” Palmer stated. “He’s back in the side and playing well at the moment, Leeds are flying, they’re second in the league, with a real chance of automatic promotion.

“I would think that should they get promoted, and they’ve got a very, very good chance, Gnonto would want to stay at Leeds United. The supporters have fallen back in love with him, and it looks like he’s playing with a smile on his face, but there’s a lot of clubs interested in him.

“Should Leeds not get promoted they would be looking for the type of money that Everton were prepared to pay for him, around £25 million. But, if Leeds go up, they will want to keep him. If he should cause issues again like he did before, then I’m sure Daniel Farke will not allow that to disrupt his squad.”

Willy Gnonto sale dependent on Leeds United promotion bid

It would be extremely unlikely that Gnonto would leave Leeds if they were to secure promotion back to the Premier League after how hard they fought to keep him last summer.

The winger lost the respect of the fans when he refused to play for the club, but his recent performances have started to earn back their trust.

It could be difficult to keep hold of him should they not achieve an immediate return to the top flight, though, given that he will want to play at a higher level and will have plenty of suitors.

Daniel Farke has set Leeds United on course to win promotion back to the Premier League this season.

The Italian’s immediate focus will be on doing all he can to ensure that will be with the Whites as he clearly enjoys playing for the club when he’s at his best and starting games regularly.

Farke has found a way to get the fire back into his belly and he’ll be hoping he can be a big player in the bid for promotion over the next few months.
