Oliver Glasner’s first week at Crystal Palace was occupied with media commitments, and he has since brought up an intriguing issue in a recent interview.

Oliver Glasner’s Red and Blue army will finally take to the Selhurst Park field in just one day.
dealt his flawless resume and the fact that he was dealt a favorable first game, expectations are very high for the Austrian.

We’ve heard a lot from Glasner about his strategies and philosophy of football before the game.

But now he’s brought forward another intriguing point, this one regarding a November encounter with the owner of Crystal Palace.

Oliver Glasner makes interesting comment about his first Selhurst Park visit

Speaking to club media, in a ‘Walk & Talk’ interview around Selhurst Park, Glasner made some intriguing comments on his first meeting with Steve Parish.

“I’ve been here before,” Glasner explained, before continuing to explain exactly when he’d set foot in Selhurst Park.

“It was the home game against Everton, yeah 3-2, meeting Steve [Parish], it was there that it started. I sat somewhere over there [gesturing to the stands]. I was cold as well,” Glasner joked.

The game that Glasner mentioned was November 11th’s loss to the Toffees. This being over three months before his appointment shows that this was a move long in the making.

Glasner must have always been in pole position for the Crystal Palace job

When Roy Hodgson‘s job looked under threat over the past few months, the instant favourite was Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.

The English boss was sacked by Forest and therefore available for Palace should they have wanted him.

However, the fact Glasner was meeting Parish at Selhurst Park three months ago suggests he was always the front runner for the job.

This combined with Glasner mentioning earlier this week that he’d planned to take over in the summer before circumstances arose which made him take an immediate start.

It seems this is a very well-thought-out decision for Palace, incredible to see.
