After taking a knock on Tuesday during the 2-0 victory over Port Vale, midfielder Michael Craig will be a concern for Reading ahead of their meeting against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

In Tuesday’s victory, Craig, who had started the previous three games in which the Royals scored four points, was substituted off at the half.

Substitution Charlie Savage made an impression by scoring in the 4-1 loss to league leaders Portsmouth on Saturday after coming off the bench.

When questioned after the victory, manager Ruben Selles acknowledged that the early substitution was tactical as well as imposed, claiming that the 20-year-old had taken a blow to his calf.

After playing six games in a 24-day span, the team will play Shrewsbury Town on Saturday before having a free week leading up to a massive trip to Carlisle United in Cumbria.

Selles stated on Tuesday, “It is not a big injury.” “But Michael had a contact on his calf that made him not 100 per cent.”

Savage is also playing well as the Royals begin a run of only one loss in eight games, which has seen them escape the relegation zone. Midfield partners Harvey Knibbs and Lewis Wing were the match winners in midweek.
