Jim White is furious about the Premier League’s appeal procedure for Everton’s point deduction.

The Toffees filed an appeal against the decision to dock the team 10 points for financial fair play violations made earlier in the season.

A decision regarding that appeal has yet to be made, with the club currently sitting 17th in the Premier League table.

“I think it’s now beyond a joke is it not?” White said on talkSPORT (11.05am, 22 February). “They play again this weekend for God’s sake and they go into it not knowing if 10 points is going to be reduced, and if so by what.”

Jordan replied: “Their fate at this moment in time has been sealed on 10 points, it only gets better. So if they start from the standpoint which most sensible people would suggest is the thought process you need to adopt, those 10 points have gone, if we get anything back it’s a bonus.

“Whether we like the unfairness, whether Andy Burnham wants to run around engaging on social media rather than coming on shows like this where he can have a valid discussion with somebody that might know what he’s talking about, in that situation you are fourth from bottom in the league, you’ve got a goal difference of 10 above Luton Town, you are in control of your own destiny.”

Jordan added: “The bottom line is the appeal process takes whatever time it takes, it is much more streamlined than it has ever been before, it is much more effective in outcomes than it has been before, and it will come relatively shortly.”

Everton to have an appeal update soon?

Everton will be getting very impatient regarding their points deduction appeal, which was launched immediately after the sanction was handed to them.

The Merseyside outfit clearly feel they are innocent when it comes to their financial breaches, but from the outside it doesn’t look good.

The 10 points shot the Toffees right down the Premier League, but a strong run of form brought them back up the standings.

However, they now sit 17th after a disappointing run, with the Toffees level on points with 18th-placed Luton.

Many fans will be relieved that the points deduction arrived this season, with the Hatters, Burnley and Sheffield United all struggling since their promotion to the top flight.

Both the Clarets and the Blades have just 13 points to their name, with the duo some way off the 20 points of Everton and Luton.

All four clubs have played 25 matches each, with the Merseyside outfit boasting the best goal difference with minus six.
