Man United could be actively working on a deal to sign Michael Olise behind the scenes, according to journalist Alex Crook.

Planning for what is shaping up to be a massive summer window for Manchester United is already well underway. Money was tight in January, hence, no signings were made.

Erik ten Hag needs to be backed by both the Glazer family and INEOS over the next six months, as the Dutch gaffer looks to continue to improve this squad.

Among the areas of need is out wide. Alejandro Garnacho looks sharp, though outside of that, the lads are struggling right now. Even Marcus Rashford hasn’t been at his best this season.

It’s why the consistent links to sign Michael Olise make plenty of sense. Now, journalist Alex Crook has shed some light on that situation.

According to his latest information, United could be ‘actively’ working on this deal to sign he 22-year-old attacker behind the scenes. City are also keen on Olise, hence, United are trying to get the deal done early.

When asked about whether Man United will make their move for Olise, Crook responded:

“I think Manchester United will be working on this deal actively behind-the-scenes. Man City and Chelsea have also shown interest, so I think United will want to try get that deal done early if they can.” Crook told @MUFCMPB’s YouTube channel, cited by their X account.

There can be no doubt that Olise would add some genuine quality to the right-hand side of our attack. It also feels like a signing INEOS would like to make due to the fact that the Englishman would be classed as a homegrown player.

Olise has become one of Crystal Palace’s vital players due to his pace, trickery, directness and free-kick taking ability (as we know all too well!). Aged just 22, there’s still plenty of room for growth and the attacker is only going to get even better if he seals a move to an elite level club.

In terms of negatives, this would be an expensive signing. Palace are under no pressure to sell and he’d cost a large chunk of the summer budget to bring in. On top of that, Olise has been dealing with his own injury issues this season. That has to be a minor concern, given the fee he is going to command.
