Before the game at the City Ground, Newcastle United’s head coach Eddie Howe made his assessment on Chris Wood, the striker for Nottingham Forest.

Due to an injury, former Newcastle striker Wood will not be playing on Saturday night.

What has Eddie Howe spoken regarding Chris Wood, then? Let’s examine this.

Eddie Howe praises Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood

In the Premier League, Nottingham Forest will play Newcastle United on Saturday night at the City Ground.

Despite being one of Forest’s greatest and most vital players, Chris Wood, a former striker for Newcastle, will not take the field against the Magpies.

This is a result of the New Zealand international’s current injury. The striker’s hamstring injury will keep him out of action for the next seven to eight weeks, according to Forest head coach Nuno.

Wood has received high praise from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe ahead of the game on Saturday night at the City Ground.

Howe, who owned the striker at Newcastle before selling him to Forest for £15 million (The Athletic), is happy that the 32-year-old won’t be playing on Saturday night.

In December, Forest defeated Newcastle at St. James’ Park in the Premier League thanks to a hat-trick from Wood.

Howe said of Wood, according to NewcastleWorld: “Chris, on the day, did very very well.” We knew his qualities, so it came as no surprise.

“We’re happy he’ll be missing, but he was a great signing for us to help keep us in the division when we were in a tough situation.”

My View: Chris Wood injury a blow for Nottingham Forest

In my opinion, the injury to Chris Wood is a blow for Nottingham Forest. The striker was just starting to get into form under Nuno, and now he will be out for weeks.

The striker has made nine starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest so far this season. He has scored eight goals and provided one assist in those games.

Now that Forest needs to avoid the dreaded relegation to the Championship at the conclusion of the season, Taiwo Awoniyi needs to step up his game and score the goals the team needs.
