Training Ground Guru reports that Max Hahn has officially joined West Ham as the team’s new Head of Technical Recruitment and Analysis.

The 28-year-old will begin his new position at the London Stadium on Wednesday, February 7th, according to a behind-the-scenes news source that tweeted on Tuesday, February 6.

The announcement was interpreted as evidence that Tim Steidten, the technical director of the Hammers, is leaving his stamp behind as Hahn joins the team from Werder Bremen, where he was the scouting and analytical coordinator.

It’s positive news to hear that West Ham are making efforts to improve the scouting department behind the scenes with Hahn’s appointment.

He will look to add youthfulness and fresh ideas to the Hammers scouting network after the recruitment has been a bit hit-and-miss over a number of years.

With the financial fair play rules putting pressure on clubs to monitor their spending, it’s important that just about every transfer turns out to be a success.

Steidten has demonstrated a keen sense of talent, especially with the additions of Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus, so it’s critical that he is given the freedom to assemble the roster he desires.

The club now faces a few pivotal months as we try to leverage Hahn’s experience to get ready for the summer transfer market.
