West Ham are dealt another injury concern ahead of their match against Manchester City, as crucial player Vladimir Coufal is called up for international action.

West Ham return to the London Stadium this weekend when champions Manchester City visit after three away games in their first four Premier League matches of the season.

Both West Ham and Manchester City have started the new season undefeated. Despite this, Man City are two points ahead of the Hammers after a flawless four-game run.

As a result, both David Moyes and Pep Guardiola have been nominated for manager of the month.

With a win over Manchester City in Saturday’s 3pm kick-off, West Ham might return to the top of the inaugural Premier League table, depending on other results.

However, West Ham may have some injury concerns ahead of the meeting.

West Ham get fresh injury scare ahead of Man City clash as key star Vladimir Coufal is forced out on international duty
As reported last week, brilliant new signing James Ward-Prowse picked up an injury last Monday which has seen him sit out West Ham training since.

Ward-Prowse, who has a goal and three assists in his first four West Ham games, was sent for a scan and given the week off. He is expected back at Rush Green today depending on how he has recovered in the last seven days.

Now West Ham have had a fresh injury scare ahead of the Man City clash as key star Vladimir Coufal is forced out on international duty.

Coufal, West Ham’s only genuine right-back option, was not named to the Czech Republic team for their 0-0 tie with Hungary.

Concerning if “small” injury keeps Coufal out for what promises to be his toughest test of the season

And reports in his homeland state the Hammers star has picked up a small injury which kept him out of the game. The reports also stated Coufal remained in the Czech Republic for treatment rather than travel to Budapest for the match. The Czech squad was one man short as a result.

Details on the nature of the injury are sketchy and West Ham will undoubtedly be keen to take a look at Coufal themselves to assess it.

The fact the injury is being described as “small” is obviously reassuring. But even minor injuries can keep players out for a week or two.

And Coufal’s absence would be felt against a team like Manchester City with the quality they have down that side in Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and co.

Let’s hope Coufal will be well rested and recovered for arguably his toughest assignment of the season so far.
