Michel der Zakarian, the coach of Montpellier, has reacted to rumors that Burnley, a Premier League team, has made a £10 million offer for Maxime Esteve.

When a player is the subject of questions about his future, it is not unusual for his club to withdraw him from the matchday squad, citing his lack of mental stability.

Despite reports from L’Equipe that Burnley is nearing a £10 million deal that would see Maxime Esteve cross the Channel, it appears that Montpellier has no such worries.

Lille takes against Montpellier on Sunday afternoon.

And head coach Michel der Zakarian is adamant that Esteve will be included in his preparations for Paulo Fonsenca’s team’s visit, barring any significant alterations over the course of the following day.

“Why wouldn’t he play (in Lille’s match)?” Foot National is told by Der Zakarian. He is taking on Lille in the game. We’ll see whether there is a departure. For the time being, he will play.

The head coach also maintains that Esteve’s transfer to Turf Moor will not be finalized until the last few days of the transfer window, and that talks will be postponed until the following week.

Der Zakarian continues, “If he leaves, he will leave on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.” It is my hope that he remains here.

We will wish him well and good luck and will have to find someone to replace him if the club makes a good offer and he needs to depart.

“He is not at all disturbed (by the speculation).”

Clarets make Callum O’Hare offer

France’s 6 feet 4 inch central defender Esteve, an Under-21 international, would join Burnley to bolster a defense that has let in 42 goals in the Premier League under Vincent Kompany. Steepest team Sheffield United is the only one with a higher breach rate.

HITC Football is aware that Leeds is keeping an eye on right-back Connor Roberts, while The Clarets have also made an approach for Coventry City’s charismatic player Callum O’Hare. Pape Gueye, a Marseille enforcer valued at £15 million, has also been linked to Burnley; however, his freedom to go has been confirmed by president Pablo Longoria.
