Omari Hutchinson, a Chelsea loanee, has lauded Manchester City youngster Callum Doyle.

The 20-year-old is now on loan at Leicester City, his third spell away from the Manchester club.

At the halfway point of the season, the defender has received high praise from another young player on loan from a Premier League club to a Championship team.

Speaking in a recent video from Football Daily where he was tasked with coming up with a Championship XI filled with players under the age of 21, Hutchinson had this to say about Doyle after picking him as one of the defensive options in his team.

He said: “We’ve gone with Callum Doyle. Good defensively, very strong, good in the air and stuff like that.”

Since arriving at the Midlands club, Doyle has featured in 12 games for the Foxes across all competitions.

After starting their first eight league games of the season, a knee injury kept him out of action for a significant period of time.

His performances in the Championship this season have earned Doyle an overall rating of 7/10 from WhoScored, making him the seventh-highest-rated player in the Leicester squad above more seasoned players such as Wilfried Ndidi, Wout Faes and Harry Winks among others.

In addition to that, the Englishman has the highest average of tackles per game (2.8) at the club, which shows how much of a willing and capable defender he is, as Hutchinson said.

Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Hutchinson, who is currently on loan at Ipswich Town from Chelsea, has highlighted Doyle as being one of the Championship’s standout young defenders this season.

Moving forward, if the defender can get back to full fitness and start playing regularly again, he could well give Pep Guardiola a decision to make at the end of the season regarding what Doyle’s next step could be.
