Later tomorrow evening, Sunderland will play Hull City in the Championship.

Tonight, Sunderland returns to the Stadium of Light to play Championship rivals Hull City, who are ranked among the top six.

Since defeating Preston North End 2-0 at home on New Year’s Day, the Black Cats have not triumphed.

Since then, Michael Beale has managed a dismal 2-1 loss at Ipswich Town and a 3-0 loss at home against Newcastle United in the FA Cup.

Hull City is now in ninth place in the Championship table, while Sunderland is currently in seventh. Liam Rosenior’s team has only won once in their past seven games across all categories, including an FA Cup loss on the road to Tony Mowbray’s Birmingham City in midweek.

David Prutton believes Sunderland will suffer more against Hull City.

Pundit David Prutton of Sky Sports made the following prediction for tonight’s Sunderland vs. Hull City match:

“Michael Beale needed a response at Ipswich after that defeat to Newcastle. Sunderland took the lead but couldn’t hold it, and the pressure is already building a little. Even though they are still very well placed in the league.

“As are Hull City. Although they are in a poor bit of form themselves, with four defeats from five. Injuries have cost them a little and you could see against Norwich they just lacked that clinical touch. But I saw enough to make me think they can get a win here and cause a few rumblings at the Stadium of Light.”
