The Rangers won’t be signing David Jurasek, a Czech international left back for Benfica, is close to joining Hoffenheim.

This month, left backs have been linked to Rangers one after another.

Rangers will undoubtedly need to address this position in 2024 because Ridvan Yilmaz is receiving interest from other teams and Borna Barisic’s contract is about to expire.

There have been several names connected to Rangers this month, but one rumored target may finally be removed from the list.

Rangers set to miss out on David Jurasek

According to recent reports, Rangers is competing with Bundesliga teams to sign David Jurasek, a left defender for Benfica.

According to a source on Wednesday, Jurasek was willing to come to Glasgow and Rangers were in a strong position to sign him.

Rangers seem to have lost out on this one, though, as Jurasek is about to relocate to Germany.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jurasek will be joining Hoffenheim, and he has already adopted his typical “here we go” motto for the move.

Romano claims that Jurasek is now joining Hoffenheim on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy.

The permanent clause is not mandatory but it will cost around €12million (£10.3million) to activate.

That kind of price tag will have been well beyond Rangers, so the chances of Jurasek actually joining seem to have been slim all along.

Benfica saw Jurasek excel for Slavia Prague and made a move worth approximately £12 million for him in the summer.

However, Jurasek has not been able to establish himself in Lisbon, and Benfica has recently added Alvaro Fernandez, a left back, from Manchester United.

That has made it possible for Jurasek to depart, but he isn’t going to Ibrox, so the Rangers will now need to direct their attention elsewhere in their search for a new left back.
