Fernando Lopes, who has known the striker since he was nine years old, praised him in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.

Beto played three years with the senior team of the Portuguese club while also working at KFC to supplement his income. Uniao Tires presently play in the FA League of Lisbon, while their former attacker has just won a £25.8 million move to the Premier League.

Lopes, who has known Beto for nearly 20 years, believes it is ‘just him’ who can make such a jump to the English top division.

Now that Beto has joined the Premier League, Fernando Lopes can’rest easy’.
“Of course, I am thrilled for Beto’s achievement. “He is one of a kind,” he told the ECHO.

“No one progresses from Tires to the Premier League.” Only him.

“I felt a huge sense of satisfaction. I also feel relief personally because if he hadn’t made it to professional football I would always be indebted to him.

“That’s because every time I gave him advice, he went home and couldn’t sleep, wondering if he was taking the best path for himself.” That is why, now that he has come in English football, I believe I can rest comfortably, and I am even more relieved to see him happy and successful.”

After spending the majority of his career in Portugal, Beto didn’t earn his big break in one of Europe’s top five leagues until he joined Udinese two years ago.

After scoring 21 goals in two seasons in Serie A, the 25-year-old will now seek to help Everton turn things around and make a name for himself in the world’s top league.
