Sunderland has been searching for a striker all season, and it looks like they will be able to get one in January. Rumor has it that Kieffer Moore is the major target, and a loan move could happen.

Sunderland has had a rollercoaster of a season; they are now sixth in the Championship.

In recent weeks, Michael Beale has taken control of the wheel at the Stadium of Light. In that time he has seen two wins, a draw and two defeats.

With all that being said, there has been a struggle for goals at times within the Black Cats’ squad. This has seen just 12 sides score fewer goals in the Championship this season, according to FotMob.

Their saviour this season has been Jack Clarke who has registered a top-class total of 12 goals and two assists. This sees him well ahead in the top scorer ranking for the club, eight above his nearest teammate.

The three recognised strikers at the club have one goal between them this campaign. This must be prefixed by the fact their average age is 21.6 and inexperienced to the Championship.

As this is the case, it will not come as a surprise to any Sunderland fan that a striker appears to be top of the January shopping list.

Loan move for Kieffer Moore in January likely

With all that being said, it is going to be a necessary requirement that Beale brings in a striker in the winter window. This is especially the case should Clarke leave with Premier League interest surrounding him.

Now fans can be excited as links to a Premier League striker with plenty of Championship experience has arisen. This has been reported by Alan Nixon who has suggested that the Black Cats are in the running for Kieffer Moore.

In a post to his Patreon page, Nixon said: “Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore is wanted by promotion-chasing Sunderland in a shock move. Welsh number nine Moore is available and keen to play in the buildup to Euro 2024. The black cats fancy him strongly

“More could head out on loan. Although the cherries would also sell Sunderland hope to put a package together for him.”

The Welshman seems to have something to prove. If Moore had a positive mentality, he might be a great addition. This is especially true considering that Zazariy Rusyn has spent the last few weeks playing by himself at number nine.

Nixon elaborated on that idea, saying, “Sunderland has changed their strategy this season by doing away with their conventional, seasoned center forward.

“Moore has a few other supporters, but Sunderland is in the lead and wants to seal the deal soon.”

It is hoped that Moore will be able to enter and play in some of the games against Stoke, Hull, and Ipswich. Owing to his Premier League and Championship background, he might end up being a worthwhile addition. It would be wise to do a business, loan or no loan.
