Aston Villa would be a’really nice fit’ for Crysencio Summerville.

Aston Villa aims to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming January transfer window, and journalist Paul Brown explained to GIVEMESPORT why Leeds United talent Crysencio Summerville would be an ideal fit for Unai Emery’s system.

Despite already having Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby, and Leon Bailey, Emery appears eager to reinforce the squad, with Summerville reportedly being monitored ahead of the winter transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist noted that Leeds has “no intention” of selling Summerville due to his significance to the team’s goals, despite reported interest from Villa and other clubs.

Vincent Kompany had expressed interest in having the Rotterdam-born player join Burnley in the Premier League, but Leeds rejected the £20 million bid on Deadline Day, emphasizing their commitment to retaining key players for their promotion campaign.

Leeds have no intention of selling Summerville

Despite having the likes of Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby, and Leon Bailey at his disposal, it appears that Emery is keen to strengthen even further, with Summerville being tracked ahead of the winter window opening, according to Fabrizio Romano, who took to social media to report that several clubs, including Villa, are keeping an eye on the situation as we edge closer to the impending window. The Italian journalist did insist, however, that his employers have ‘no intention’ of selling.

Vincent Kompany was excited to watch the Rotterdam-born ace flaunt his stuff for his Burnley team when they returned to the Premier League this season, but their £20 million bid was turned down by Leeds on Deadline Day. The Whites were desperate to keep their finest players in order to gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League, and Summerville has played a key role in that effort.

Following Burnley’s interest, the 22-year-old Dutchman has been a significant asset for Leeds in their Championship season, notching 11 goals and six assists in 21 appearances, primarily from the left side of Leeds’ front three. His rich vein of success appears to have grabbed Villa’s eye, though journalist Ben Jacobs did told GIVEMESPORT back in October that Summerville himself was keen to finish the season in England’s second division.

Paul Brown provides insights into Villa’s interest in Summerville, suggesting that while there may be monitoring of the position, the specific player profile sought by Emery remains unclear. Brown indicates that the links to Iling-Junior might not be as substantial as initially thought, with Villa possibly aware of his availability rather than expressing concrete interest.

According to Brown, Summerville could be a great fit for Aston Villa, particularly given his eagerness to establish himself in the Premier League. However, he acknowledges that Leeds will likely make efforts to retain the player’s services beyond the upcoming January transfer window.

“Yeah, I think that wide forward position is one that he probably is looking at. It’s difficult to know exactly the profile of the player given the type of formation that Aston Villa have been playing and the roles that people like Bailey and Diaby have been playing – it’s tricky to find players that exactly fit into that.

“Iling-Junior is somebody that Villa have had their eye on. I’m not sure how serious it is, to be honest. From the conversations I’ve had, I think it’s more just a situation they’ve become aware of because the player is going to be available.

“Summerville, I find very interesting because I actually think he’d be a really good fit for Aston Villa and I think that this is going to be someone that could really make a name for himself in the Premier League within the right system. Obviously Leeds don’t want to hear anything about that right now, but it’ll be a difficult rumour to keep quiet I think in January.”
