Even though Leicester City is atop the Championship, they will still have a busy schedule in 2019 in terms of both new hires and departures.

Dennis Praet’s path at Leicester City since joining the team in 2019 has been somewhat turbulent.

The 29-year-old may soon be returning to a former team because he has only ever exceeded the 1,000-minute threshold for the team once, and that was during his debut season in England.

Praet spent the previous season on loan at Torino, Italy, where he played in 23 Serie A games and left a lasting impression.

The pursuit can now resume when Calciomercato revealed that Il Toro was interested in adding him back to the squad, but the agreement fell through.

Praet’s departure from Leicester looks imminent given that he has only played in five Championship matches this season for a total of 165 minutes. Torino News has claimed that a deal is in the works.

Celtic clinging on to star

Although Leicester appears to have everything it takes to return to the top division right away, Enzo Maresca is obviously not one to sit back and take it all in.

According to multiple sources, they are ready to compete against clubs like West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan for Celtic’s Matt O’Riley.

O’Riley and the Serie A switch have been linked by Sky Sports, and this latest development may have a negative effect on the atmosphere at King Power Stadium.

With a £25 million price tag attached to the Fulham academy graduate, Football Insider exposed how desperate Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are to keep him on staff.

Potential Premier League return for Iheanacho

Although Praet isn’t really at the center of Maresca’s ambitions, his departure wouldn’t be catastrophic, the same cannot be said for Kelechi Iheanacho.

The striker has made appearances in 19 of the 24 league games this season that have been played so far, and he has helped the cause in all competitions with two assists and six goals.

Leicester City’s top goalscorers this season, as per The BBC
Name Appearances Goals Assists Minutes per goal
Stephy Mavididi 25 8 4 244
Kieran Dewsbury-Hall 27 7 9 296
Jamie Vardy 19 7 1 140
Kelechi Iheanacho 21 6 2 166
Kasey McAteer 14 5 0 154
Wilfred Ndidi 23 4 6 357
Patson Daka 7 4 2 98

Both when Leicester was in the Premier League and after they faced relegation, there has been constant chatter regarding a trade involving the former Manchester City player.

The most recent team to make an appearance is Aston Villa, who under Unai Emery’s leadership are unquestionably moving in the right direction.

Their best forward is Ollie Watkins, though Iheanacho is now being discussed as a possible addition. According to Football Insider, the Nigerian’s services might be obtained for as little as £5–10 million.

Iheanacho and Leicester City are having trouble concluding their contract negotiations, which is why Villa have such a tantalizing prospect.
