Joao Gomes, a Brazilian, responded on social media to his outstanding performance for Wolves during their 4-1 victory over Brentford on Wednesday night.
At the Gtech Community Stadium, Wolves displayed their ruthlessness as a brace from Hwang Hee-Chan and goals from Mario Lemina and Jean Ricner-Bellgarde firmly sealed all three points.
Wanderers managed just five shots on goal, scoring four of them as Gary O’Neil’s team punished some deadly defensive mistakes from the hosts, two of which came from Nathan Collins, who left the team in the summer. Max Kilman was a commanding presence in defense, Hwang was explosive in attack, and Joao Gomes was praised for his superb performance alongside Lemina.
The Brazilian made a staggering ten tackles (the most on the pitch), completed 38/47 (81%) of his passes and contested an incredible 19 duels (another match-high), winning 11, as per Sofascore.
After putting in a performance that was deservedly showered with praise, he offered his reaction on social media.

Throughout this campaign, several players have stepped up for O’Neil, including Hwang, Lemina and Kilman, but after arriving from Flamengo for £15 million in January, Gomes has been a revelation this term.
Across 17 appearances in the Premier League, he’s been a breath of fresh air to watch and Wolves supporters love how he flies into challenges and puts his body on the line for the team.
In his latest performance, the 22-year-old continued to show how much he cares on the pitch while displaying his adulation off it.
Taking to X after the match, Gomes said: “Let’s go Wolves +3” in response to their emphatic victory which pushed them up to 11th in the table.
What a Christmas it’s been for Wolves
At the start of this campaign, many expected Wolves to be embroiled in a relegation tussle as a result of their disappointing transfer window.
However, at the halfway point, O’Neil can take huge credit for guiding his side into a safe mid-table position as they find themselves ten points above the relegation zone. The Christmas period has been crucial to achieving that healthy cushion with consecutive victories over Chelsea and Brentford.
