Newcastle United find themselves in significant jeopardy as they prepare to take on Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

Toon supporters received no early Christmas gift on Saturday as Eddie Howe’s team fell short 1-0 against Luton Town.

Newcastle United gave a terrible showing; they always seem to be desperate when they play away from St. James’ Park.

Fortunately, the Magpies’ Boxing Day meeting against Nottingham Forest is at home. This is Nuno Espirito Santo’s second game on Tyneside since taking Steve Cooper’s place.

Following their loss to Luton, Newcastle’s match against Nottingham Forest is suddenly considerably more important, and this is the starting lineup we believe Eddie Howe will select.

First Premier League start for Sven Botman since September

Sven Botman did not start a Premier League match since September 24th.

Boxing Day should bring about a change in that, particularly after Jamaal Lascelles seemed to sustain an injury during Luton’s loss. After replacing him and playing for around an hour, Botman is expected to start against Forest at the age of 23.

Hopefully, Tino Livramento will make one more defensive substitution, moving to left back. Despite taking a Saturday off, he was really missed.

Joelinton returns against Nottingham Forest

We are crossing our fingers that Joelinton will be back in the squad for the match at St. James’ Park, more out of hope than expectation.

After suffering an injury during the victory over Fulham, the £40 million player has now missed back-to-back games. However, it appears that he was close to playing against Luton, which gives one optimism that he may be fit for Boxing Day.

Alexander Isak up front for Newcastle

In Newcastle’s last four games, Callum Wilson has played the entire ninety minutes; on Tuesday afternoon, that should come to a stop.

Howe can rotate now that he has two strikers available. After recovering from his groin issue, Alexander Isak needs to get started.

This season, the 24-year-old has scored nine goals across all competitions, and he believed he had scored his tenth goal against Luton. Sadly, offside resulted in it being chalked off.

Predicted XI vs Forest: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Livramento; Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
