Birmingham City would not want to see another club cavorting with its head coach, John Eustace, after a strong start to the 2023-24 Championship season with many new players and a new ownership structure.

Despite having only managed non-league Kidderminster Harriers before to his hiring last summer, Eustace had a developing reputation as a coach for both Queens Park Rangers and the Republic of Ireland national side.

That led to his selection as the Blues’ new manager, and despite having his hands tied in some respects in his first season in command, Eustace managed to keep them out of relegation jeopardy.

The start to the new season has gone arguably better than the Solihull-born coach could have hoped, with City sitting in fourth place after five games and remaining unbeaten in league play.

Despite the fact that the season is only a month old, the vultures are already circling, with the Daily Mail reporting that Scottish giants Rangers are keeping a close eye on Eustace in case they break ways with Mick Beale.

Beale is under fire despite only being in charge at Ibrox for a little more than nine months. They were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the play-off stage, and they already behind Celtic by four points in the Scottish Premiership table.

If things continue to go wrong for Beale, Eustace is considered as a perfect prospective replacement, but it would take a lot to entice him away from his current position.
