It has been reported that if Dan Ashworth is tempted to Manchester United, Newcastle United may try to sign Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace.

Although Dougie Freedman, the sporting director of Crystal Palace, has been linked to a move to Manchester United, it is possible that he is currently in route to St James’ Park.

It appears that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a 71-year-old billionaire, is eager to sign the best players available when his 25% acquisition of the Old Trafford club is finished, whenever that may be.

This means that, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Newcastle’s newest sports director, Dan Ashworth, may be enticed to Old Trafford, which might result in the Geordie team perhaps pursuing Freedman.

Freedman’s impact at Palace

Rio Ferdinand questioned United’s choice to recruit Freedman, arguing that the Palace director’s work hasn’t received as much attention as it could and that Freedman isn’t the most glamorous name on his Vibe With Five podcast.

The club was able to bring in Michael Olise, Emerechi Eze, and Marc Guehi for less than £50 million in total thanks in large part to Freedman’s influence.

The task that Freedman, who used to start for the Eagles before his retirement in 2017, has undoubtedly gone under the radar, has the potential to bring in close to £200 million if the South London club decides to sell the trio.
