Everton may potentially be in even greater financial danger, according to reports, following a worrying £150 million update on the present stadium issue.

There’s never a dull moment at Goodison Park right now, with drama on the pitch, in the boardroom, and over at the new Bramley Moore Dock stadium. Everton had planned to move into their new home next summer in time to begin the 2024/25 season there, but it has now been announced that those plans have been pushed back a year, with the Blues now moving to Bramley Moore Dock in 2025 and remaining at Goodison for one more year.

According to a report published by The Guardian, “the club have made the decision to relocate from Goodison Park during the close season, rather than mid-season, following consultations with supporters” , and added that “Everton stress that the timing is not due to any construction issues at the new 52,888-capacity stadium, although they still need to secure the funds to finish the build” .

It is an update that will no likely irritate and frighten some supporters, who are eager to see the stadium relocation and club takeover finished as soon as possible. However, greater patience is now necessary, as well as faith that all will be accomplished eventually.

Everton could be over spending limits again

The delay has definitely cost the Merseysiders, and according to an update from Football Insider, people in charge at Everton are “stunned” by the projected financial losses on the stadium.

“Senior figures at Everton have been left ‘stunned’ at the additional costs added to their stadium construction, sources have told Football Insider. The Merseyside club started construction in 2021 with a budget of around £550million. However, due to the rise in material prices, the Bramley Moore Dock stadium is now set to cost over £700million to complete.”

This is clearly concerning news for Everton at a time when finances are already tight, with restrictions on how much Sean Dyche may be able to spend during the January transfer window, not to mention the risk of further Premier League sanctions if they continue to spend beyond their means.
