At the King Power Stadium, Millwall had the audacity to take the lead, but Leicester’s barrage of goals in the second half easily defeated them.
Head coach of Millwall Joe Edwards acknowledges that Leicester City’s performance on Wednesday night left his club “brutally punished.”
After the Lions took a 1-0 lead, the hosts took control of the game with two goals in the final four minutes of the half from Jannik Vestergaard and Patson Daka. With twelve minutes remaining, Ricardo Pereira made it 3-1, thus Kevin Nisbet’s goal was merely a consolation.
Edwards was happy with many parts of his team’s performance following the 3-2 loss, which saw the Foxes move back to the top of the table and the visitors drop to just two spots and one point above the relegation zone.
However, he believed that the primary distinction was in quality. He remarked, “It was evident early in the game that they were controlling the ball without really hurting us.” “And when you have that game plan, that one moment where the players really showed some quality to get one-nil ahead, then you get exactly what you want.”

We seemed to have a great opportunity, but we kept disappointing. You could sense the energy in the stadium as we entered at halftime and the optimism and confidence that pervaded our dressing room.
In terms of our collective defense, we performed similarly, but there were a few instances in and around our own box where their skill and our occasional distractions allowed them to take the game away from you.
“It jolted us. The game appeared to be over at around 70 minutes, but then we got that little wave of belief back and before you knew it, we were putting passes together. We score, and suddenly, in the closing few minutes of a game that appeared to be over, it’s game on.
“So we need to take the positives from the good things we came here and did but ultimately I think their players showed how difficult it is to come here with how brutally they can punish you.”
Only Ipswich have scored more league goals than Leicester, and no one can match their goal difference of plus-27, which has them 11 points ahead.
