So far this season in the Championship, Sunderland is having success. They are in sixth position right now and are actively pursuing the playoffs.

Neil, who is 21 years old, has been a major contributor to the team’s success. In the 16 Championship games the Black Cats have played so far in the 2023–24 season, the midfielder has appeared in 15. Neil will undoubtedly start the match if he is healthy when Sunderland plays Plymouth Argyle following the international break.

Neil’s Sunderland manager, Mowbray, has now expressed his optimism that the academy product will one day display his skills in the Premier League.

“Everyone is thrilled with the season he’s had thus far.

“I have witnessed his development during my time at the club. He’s developing, and if he continues to do so, he will surely play at the highest level and contribute his skills to a very good Premier League squad, ideally this one.”Although Mowbray’s remarks are forceful, the great majority of Sunderland supporters likewise firmly feel that it is the case, and with good reason. Neil has played frequently in League One and the Championship, and given his prior attention, it seems likely that more supporters will come to see him in light of his current performance.

The player has a long-term contract with Sunderland, which is wonderful news for the team. He has a deal with the Stadium of Light through 2026, so any team looking to sign him would have to shell out a lot of cash.

Naturally, Sunderland will be hoping that Neil, like Mowbray suggests, makes it to the top division with the Black Cats. Though it’s unclear if that will occur, the team appears to be in a good position to try again to make the playoffs this year.
