As he nears his comeback from injury, the 27-year-old has one last chance to redeem himself for Leeds.

Junior Firpo has stated that he is on his way back from injury for Leeds United.Junior Firpo pushing for return to former club with double defensive departure on for Leeds

Firpo has been out of action for the all of Daniel Farke’s tenure at Elland Road, with the German taking over in July.

The 27-year-old has been out with a knee injury for nearly two months, but his comeback from the international break could be imminent.

Leeds did not sign an outright left-back in the summer, therefore Firpo will have another chance to secure that place.

Firpo has struggled for form and fitness at Leeds since joining from Barcelona in 2021, but when he returns, he will have one last chance to redeem himself.

Firpo should be too talented for the Championship on paper, but his performances at Leeds have provided little evidence that this would be the case.

Firpo will have less defensive work to accomplish in the second tier, which could favor him given his strengths in going forward.

There is little doubt that this is Firpo’s last chance to prove himself at Leeds, and if he hasn’t done so by January, it will be time to replace him.

Darko Gyabi was reportedly courted by Fleetwood Town and Valenciennes on deadline day, and in retrospect, the Leeds United midfielder should have accepted a move.

Gyabi, 19, has only made two substitute appearances this season. In the other five games, he has been an unused substitute. That was even before Leeds signed Ilia Gruev and subsequently Glen Kamara.

Gruev was unavailable for the 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday because the team was awaiting permission to deploy him – he was asking for a Visa. Kamara came on in the final few minutes but is out of shape.

Even without Gruev, Gyabi remained an underutilized sub. Starting options include Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray, with Gruev and Kamara also competing. This word has been preferred by Jamie Shackleton.

According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, Valenciennes made a £5 million bid after a £4 million offer was rejected. Fleetwood Town manager Scott Brown attempted to get the England U20 midfielder on loan.
