In response to Demarai Gray’s attempts to force through a transfer away from Everton this summer, Sean Dyche has spoken out, making it quite apparent to the forward that he cannot simply do whatever he wants.

Gray played an important role for the Toffees last season, appearing in 33 Premier League games, but he has yet to play at all this year.

The 27-year-old has been associated with clubs in the Premier League, organizations throughout Europe, and a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, which he was eager to take advantage of.

Gray said in a post on Instagram that Everton supporters have always been wonderful to him. However, it’s quite challenging to play for someone who doesn’t treat you with respect.

Dyche has responded angrily, saying that Gray refused to train and notified the Everton hierarchy that he had secured a deal elsewhere, which has ruffled a few feathers to say the least.

Dyche told EvertonTV: ‘It’s bad because I try to keep our business in-house. I believe it is appropriate to respond on this occasion.

‘Demarai made it plain that he believed he was receiving a move [away from Everton], and he told us a move had been completed, which was interesting to hear from a player.

‘We reminded him that no movements are made without the approval of this club. That is the reality.

We look after these players; we look at all of the many ways to look after them. The mental and physical well-being are important, as are the tactics and technicalities. We consider all of that for all of these guys, and we take care of them.
