NottinghamshireLive provides the most recent news on Nottingham Forest, including Jonjo Shelvey’s amazing goal for Caykur Rizespor from the halfway line.

On loan at Caykur Rizespor, Jonjo Shelvey of Nottingham Forest scored an amazing goal on Sunday from halfway.

In January, the midfield player signed a permanent contract to join Forest from Newcastle. But despite making just eight appearances overall, the 31-year-old was unable to have an impression at the City Ground.

Shelvey departed the Reds for a loan move to Turkish team Rizespor in the summer. In Turkey, he has already made as many appearances as he did in his whole tenure at Forest.

And Shelvey, playing for Rizespor at home against Istanbulspor in the Turkish Super Lig, shocked football fans with an incredible strike from halfway line—a move that David Beckham memorably accomplished for Manchester United in the Premier League many years ago.

Shelvey was spotted asking for the ball in midfield with the score tied at zero goals in the first half. He then launched the ball towards goal and caught the Istanbulspor off guard with an incredible finish. After the midfielder scored his first goal for the Turkish team, he celebrated with his signature “glasses” gesture.

It looks like Shelvey’s time at Forest is gone, regardless of how he does in Turkey. He did not fly to Spain with his colleagues for a preseason training camp and was not engaged in the final weeks of the previous season as the Reds secured their survival.
