James Ward-Prowse’s England omission, according to David Moyes, will help West Ham: “I’m very happy!”
Despite his excellent form, Gareth Southgate still ignores Ward-Prowse.

After James Ward-Prowse responded to his latest international setback with two more assists against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, David Moyes feels that West Ham will gain and England will lose.

Despite having had a fantastic start to life in east London after moving from Southampton in the summer, Ward-Prowse has not been included in any of the three England squads that Gareth Southgate has selected so far this season.

Lucas Paqueta’s winning goal in the Hammers’ Europa League victory over Olympiacos was set up by Ward-Prowse, just hours after Southgate announced his team for the last round of European Championship qualifiers on Thursday.

Three days later, the midfielder was back at it, setting up goals for Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek with his corners as the Irons defeated Forest 3-2 at the London Stadium in an exciting match.

He’s going to have a little relaxation this week, which makes me very happy! About Ward-prowse’s exclusion of England, Moyes stated. “We’ve basically had game after game with the quantity of games we’ve played in between international vacations.

James is a huge assistance. Though there are so many excellent players for Gareth Southgate to pick from, I believe he will always be in his thoughts. James is waiting to see whether he has any injuries while he sits there.

Paqueta gave West Ham the lead against Forest after just three minutes, but the visitors had already scored twice before the interval. It took Ward-Prowse’s two assists for the team to overcome the deficit.

Since moving from Southampton, Ward-Prowse has now tallied two goals and nine assists in all competitions. Along with Pedro Neto of Wolves, seven of those have occurred in the Premier League, making it the joint most of any player.

“You need little things to go for you, and there’s very little between the teams,” Moyes continued. “We haven’t scored more goals with our set pieces in the last four or five games, which has disappointed me.”

“Let’s be honest, James Ward-Prowse is an exceptional deliveryer. If I were him, I would be upset that this season’s other lads haven’t already scored more goals thanks to his deliveries. For us, today’s were really significant.

“I think we played extremely well to keep the pressure on, be resilient, tough, and get ourselves back in the game in the second half after we fell behind. It is amazing to continue and succeed.”
